Project: Hesperia Tower Hotel (Barcelona)
Building Architect: Richard Rogers (Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners)
Interior & Landscape Design: GCA Architects
Original Product Design: Jordi Mallorquí
Standing as an iconic architectural landmark on Barcelona’s skyline—designed by the acclaimed Pritzker-winning architect Richard Rogers—the exterior lighting scheme required a solution defined by technical rigor, durability, and restrained aesthetics. To frame the primary entrance pathways of the Hesperia Tower Hotel, the renowned international practice GCA Architects (founded by Josep Juanpere and Antonio Puig, recognized for their sophisticated, detail-driven approach) specified a high-performance architectural lighting plan for the surrounding grounds.
To execute the exterior bollard and pathway illumination, Insolit engineered a bespoke adaptation of the Banús model, an adjustable outdoor luminaire originally designed by Jordi Mallorquí. Crafted with an IP65 ingress protection rating, the fixture provides exceptional weather resistance while delivering soft, precise, glare-free light along the entrance corridors.
This tailored iteration of Banús integrates seamlessly into the bold structural architecture of the complex, subtly guiding guests while highlighting the surrounding landscape. It represents a high-profile collaboration where Insolit’s custom manufacturing capabilities meet the architectural heritage of Richard Rogers and the design standards of GCA Architects.
