Set within the historic Royal Shipyards (Drassanes Reials), home to the Barcelona Maritime Museum (MMB), the renowned lighting design practice La Invisible (led by Lighting Designer Maria Güell) commissioned Insolit to engineer a large-scale, bespoke illumination feature for the museum store.
Based on the original design by Josep Lluís Xuclà, Insolit manufactured a custom, grand-scale iteration of the iconic TR circular luminaire, spanning an impressive 3-meter diameter. The fixture was engineered to float precisely above the store’s main circular counter, mirroring its geometry to establish a strong architectural dialogue within the historic hall.
Technically, the luminaire features an array of miniature adjustable spotlights integrated directly into the underside of its extruded aluminum profile. This tailored configuration provides precise accent lighting on the point of sale and displayed merchandise while preserving high visual comfort without glare. A masterclass in bespoke manufacturing where lighting engineering, author design, and heritage architecture converge seamlessly.
