What bedroom light really needs
Before choosing a model, it is worth being clear about four criteria that determine whether a ceiling lamp truly works in a bedroom:
- Warm colour temperature: between 2700 K and 3000 K. Any value above this is stimulating and makes relaxation harder. In the bedroom, always warm.
- Dimming: the bedroom needs at least two scenes — functional light for dressing or reading, and a low ambient setting for winding down before sleep. DALI, Triac and Push Dim are the most common systems in design luminaires.
- No direct glare: lying down means your eyes point directly at the ceiling. If the light source is exposed, visual comfort is destroyed. Indirect light or a deep anti-glare shield are the key solutions.
- CRI above 90: so that the colours of your bedroom — clothes, fabrics, wood — are perceived faithfully. All Insolit LED luminaires meet this standard.

The TR Ceiling Up is the circular ceiling lamp from the TR collection with fully indirect emission: all the light travels upward to the ceiling and bounces back, wrapping the bedroom in soft, shadow-free luminosity. Made from extruded and bent aluminium profile with a gel polycarbonate diffuser, it integrates an LED on a flexible PCB designed by Insolit specifically for the TR collection.
Its rod-mounted installation at variable heights allows precise positioning according to ceiling height, and even layering with other TR Ceiling luminaires to create bespoke compositions. TR Ceiling Down: circular ceiling lamp with direct light, clarity without stress
When the bedroom also needs functional light — for dressing, reading or grooming — the TR Ceiling Down delivers direct emission in the same circular language of the TR collection. The gel polycarbonate diffuser distributes light evenly, preventing the bright spot that causes glare when lying and looking upward.
Same construction as the TR Ceiling Up — extruded and bent aluminium, flexible PCB LED, rod mounting — with the flexibility to be combined with its indirect sibling in the same bedroom: one for ambience, the other for function. Fully customisable in diameter and finish.
Stick Ceiling: precision adjustable spotlight — illuminate without waking
For anyone who needs to light one side of the bed without disturbing the other, the Stick Ceiling is the most precise solution. This adjustable ceiling spotlight, made from machined aluminium and steel, combines a narrow beam — 10° or 25° — with a deep matt anodised black anti-glare shield that eliminates any direct view of the light source.
At 6 W, CRI 90 and available in 2700 K or 3000 K, it delivers high-quality focused light without compromising the bedroom atmosphere. The 6 mm rod that integrates the LED cable allows multi-angle adjustment. A discreet-scale piece with all the character of the machined materials in the Stick collection.
How to choose the ceiling lamp for your bedroom
There is no single answer. The choice depends on several combined factors:
- Ceiling height: low ceilings (under 2.5 m) work better with surface-mounted or short-rod lamps; high ceilings allow longer rod compositions or layering of multiple TR Ceiling units.
- Bedroom size: in double bedrooms (≥14 m²) a larger-diameter TR Ceiling or the combination of a ceiling lamp and Stick Ceiling ensures balanced lighting without dark zones.
- How you use the space: if you read in bed, you need a directional light point (Stick Ceiling). If you only want general rest-oriented ambience, the TR Ceiling Up works perfectly on its own.
