FLOOR COLLECTION

Designer floor lamps

In Insolit's floor lamp collection, high-level craftsmanship and technical innovation meet design excellence to transform your spaces. Our collection of modern floor lamps includes exclusive creations by renowned designers such as Josep Lluís Xuclà and Jean-Michel Wilmotte, offering pieces that bring an unmistakable "Author's Light" — conceived and manufactured in Barcelona.

Why choose a modern floor lamp

Designer floor lamps are extraordinarily versatile lighting solutions that serve a dual purpose: functional and aesthetic. They are the perfect choice both for providing focused light in reading or work areas, and for bathing a room in soft, welcoming illumination.

Beyond their evident functionality, an Insolit floor lamp reveals itself as a true sculptural piece. Its clean lines and use of high-quality materials allow it to integrate perfectly with the architecture and interior design of any space. Whether seeking a timeless aesthetic or avant-garde minimalism, our models make it possible to create unique lighting scenes that reduce the need for invasive general lighting.

The Insolit floor lamp collection

Our indoor collection presents sophisticated options that meet the demands of the most exclusive projects:

  • The elegance of glass: The Glass Floor, designed by Josep Lluís Xuclà, stands out for its exquisite ribbed glass, bringing warm, textured sophistication to living rooms and bedrooms.
  • Versatility and indirect light: Models such as the LP floor lamp or the innovative Inside Tensor system play with geometry and spatial tension to offer indirect general light, ideal for creating immersive and relaxed atmospheres.
  • Focal precision: For those looking to highlight architectural details or requiring impeccable reading light, the Focus Line Floor floor projector, designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, offers an unmatched technical and refined design.

Taking designer floor lamps outdoors

Lighting terraces, gardens, and outdoor walkways requires the same attention to detail as interior design. At Insolit, we have adapted our excellence to open-air environments:

  • Designer bollard lighting: The adjustable luminaires Banus and Banus Twice are perfect for marking pathways and defining outdoor spaces with subtle yet effective light.
  • Outdoor projectors (IP65): The family designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte steps outdoors with the Focus Line Floor IP 65. For direct integration into garden landscapes, we offer ground spike solutions such as the Focus Line Spike and the Focus Line Floor Spike, allowing vegetation or façades to be illuminated with complete precision and weather resistance.

Can a floor lamp transform an entire room?

Absolutely! By placing a floor lamp strategically — next to a sofa, in a forgotten corner, or near a work desk — you can redefine the depth and atmosphere of an entire room. Our lamps allow you to play with indirect light to create a sense of spaciousness, while directional projectors add dramatic accents wherever they are needed most.

How to choose the ideal floor lamp for your project

The choice will depend on the desired function. If you are looking to create a reading nook in the living room or a supportive light source in a study, directional models such as the Focus Line series are ideal. If, on the other hand, the goal is to wash a wall with light in a dining room or create a calm atmosphere in a bedroom or hotel lobby, the ribbed diffusers of the Glass Floor or the indirect lighting systems will be the perfect protagonists.

LP

If the goal is to bathe the space in subtle warmth, the LP floor lamp offers a masterful solution. Its design is conceived to emit adjustable indirect light that bounces softly off surfaces, creating a relaxing atmosphere free from glare.

Thanks to its modular and configurable components, the LP lamp works not only as a general light source for the living room, but as a true contemporary sculpture that adapts to the scale and identity of your interior design project.

Focus Line Floor

For those corners that require focused, characterful lighting, the Focus Line Floor floor projector is the ideal choice. Designed by the prestigious architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, this luminaire stands out for its refined lines and uncompromising functionality.

Available in single or double version, it is perfect for placing beside the sofa as a high-precision reading light, or for highlighting artworks and textures on the walls of your living room, adding a touch of minimalist sophistication.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Floor lamps are tall, freestanding luminaires that rest directly on the floor, designed to raise the light source within a room without requiring any electrical installation in ceilings or walls.

Beyond their practical function of providing illumination, in the realm of high-end interior design — as is the case with Insolit‘s creations —, floor lamps act as true sculptural pieces. They are decorative elements that express the identity of the space and bring character to the room even when switched off, thanks to the use of noble materials and refined lines.

The ideal placement depends on the function the luminaire is intended to serve within the space:

  • Reading or work areas: Placed to one side or slightly behind a sofa or armchair. Here, directional models such as the Focus Line Floor are perfect for projecting precise accent light onto a book or keyboard.

  • Dark corners or recesses: Placing a lamp in a corner helps to visually expand the room. An indirect light luminaire such as the LP will wash the adjacent walls, creating a warm atmosphere and eliminating harsh shadows.

  • Outdoor and walkway areas: On terraces or in gardens, they are placed strategically to mark pathways or highlight vegetation, using specific models with IP65 protection, such as the Banus bollards or the Focus Line Spike ground spike projectors.

As a general rule, the ideal height for an indoor floor lamp ranges between 150 cm and 170 cm.

If the lamp is to be used primarily for reading beside a seat, the light source (the projector or the base of the shade) should sit at the eye level of the seated person, approximately 100–120 cm from the floor, to avoid glare. To accommodate these ergonomic variations, designer lamps typically incorporate adjustable heads or configurable modular systems that allow the beam of light to be directed precisely where it is needed.

You should use a floor lamp when you need to create layers of light in a room. Lighting designers recommend avoiding reliance on a single overhead light source (ceiling light), as it flattens the space.

Use a floor lamp to:

  • Zone open-plan spaces: For example, visually separating the seating area from the dining area in an open-plan living room.

  • Create relaxing atmospheres: When you wish to turn off the general light and transition towards a more intimate and welcoming evening ambiance through indirect or dimmable lighting.

  • Provide flexibility: As they require no fixed installation, they allow you to redesign the lighting layout of the room whenever you rearrange the furniture.

There is no fixed number, but in a standard-sized living room, it is most common to find one or two floor lamps.

The secret to good interior design is lighting balance. Rather than saturating the space with lamps of the same format, the ideal approach is to combine a floor lamp (for reading, for example) with other types of luminaires, such as a table lamp (like the Glass Table) on a sideboard, wall sconces, or a pendant light. If the living room is very large, placing two floor lamps at opposite ends can help balance the visual weight and maintain even illumination throughout.
